Wayback Machine Backups
Automate archiving of your bookmarks to the Internet Archive.
Enable Wayback Machine Backups
- Find Wayback Machine backups section
- Enable “Backup links to the Wayback Machine”
- Click “Save Settings”
How it works:
- When you save a new HTTP(S) link, LinkAce sends it to archive.org
- The Wayback Machine crawls and archives the page
- Archived versions remain accessible even if the original disappears
Backup Private Links
Control whether private bookmarks are archived:
- Disabled (default): Only public/internal links are archived
- Enabled: All links, including private ones, are archived
⚠️ Privacy Warning: If enabled, your private links will be archived on the public Internet Archive. Anyone can access them at archive.org.
Recommendation:
- Personal bookmarks: Keep disabled
- Public resources: Enable if desired
Limitations
- Some websites block the Wayback Machine (robots.txt)
- Login-required pages won’t be archived
- Non-HTTP(S) URLs (FTP, etc.) can’t be archived
- Dynamic/JavaScript-heavy content may not archive perfectly
