What is LinkAce

LinkAce is a self-hosted bookmark manager that helps you archive, organize, and share your favorite web links. Unlike browser bookmarks, LinkAce provides a robust, centralized database for curating and managing your online discoveries — perfect for professionals, researchers, and avid internet users.

Core Concepts

LinkAce stores any URI — web pages (https://example.com), FTP servers (ftp://files.example.com), or custom protocols. When you save a link, LinkAce automatically generates titles and descriptions, monitors availability, and archives HTTP(S) links to the Internet Archive.

Link visibility:

  • Public — Anyone with access to your LinkAce instance can view (including guests if enabled)
  • Internal — Only logged-in users can view
  • Private — Only you can view

Lists and Tags

Organize your bookmarks two ways:

  • Lists — Broad categories like “Web Development Tools” or “Recipes”
  • Tags — Granular labels like “javascript”, “tutorial”, or “urgent”

Both can be public, internal, or private — matching your workflow.

Multi-User Support

LinkAce v2 supports multiple users. The first user becomes an administrator and can invite others. Users can share lists and tags, making LinkAce ideal for teams and communities.
